The Longmont Community Foundation currently offers three scholarship programs and one award for community service.  Please scroll down to view program descriptions.  Applications are posted in January of each year.  If you have questions about any of the scholarship programs below, contact The Longmont Community Foundation at 303-678-6555.  Click on the name of the scholarship you are interested in to download the full application form. 

Madeline Marie Molzahn Sherrod Scholarship
This scholarship was established by Dale Sherrod and his children in memory of Madeline, his wife and their mother. Selection is based on character, personal letter of the applicant, church, school and community involvement, academics and financial need. One student is selected each year to receive this $1,500 scholarship.  This is a renewable scholarship for $1,500 for up to three additional years.

The 2010 recipient of the Madeline Marie Molzahn Sherrod Memorial Scholarship is Amelia Wells of Erie High School.  Amelia will be attending the University of Northern Colorado in the fall.

Catherine C. Owen Scholarship
The scholarship is in memory of Catherine C. Owen of Mead. It is awarded to one St. Vrain high school senior that will be attending the University of Northern Colorado or a Christian college, and demonstrates financial need, academic achievement, community involvement, and moral character. This one time scholarship is for $1000. Application for this scholarship is part of the high school local scholarship application available at local high school counseling offices.

The 2010 recipient of the Catherine C. Owen Scholarship is Brittney Moauro of Skyline High School.  Brittney will be attending Regis University in the fall.
 
The Philip McClelland Scholarship
This scholarship was established in memory of Philip McClelland by his family and friends. One $1,000 scholarship will be awarded for a 2010 graduate of the St. Vrain Valley School District or Berthoud High School who has experienced the serious illness or death of a family member, has demonstrated  financial need and will be attending an accredited two or four year college.  Students who have experienced a very serious illness or injury themselves are also encouraged to apply.

The 2010 recipient of the Philip McClelland Scholarship is Dana Marie Louise Watkins of Olde Columbine High School.  Dana will be attending the Front Range Community College in the fall.

St. Vrain Valley Community Service Award
The St. Vrain Valley Community Service Award is open to all graduating high school seniors in the St. Vrain Valley who have completed at least 50 hours of community service for the year and exemplify a commitment of service to the community.  Awards are $500 each.

There were 6 Community Service Awards given in 2010.  The award recipients were:

• Carly Hale of Longmont High School who performed 557 volunteer hours
• Scott Hardy of Silver Creek High School who performed 180 volunteer hours
• Julie Knaus of Longmont High School who performed 200 volunteer hours
• Natasha Sheu of Silver Creek High School who performed 362 volunteer hours
• Marissa Shevins of Alexander Dawson School who performed 243.7 volunteer hours
• Megan Slater of Lyons High School who performed 339.5 volunteer hours
