Longmont Legacy is a Giving Circle consisting of individuals and families who pool their resources together and collectively make funding decisions each year. The focus of Longmont Legacy is to fund issues and causes related to youth and education. Each year Longmont Legacy members entertain grant proposals from nonprofit organizations. Additionally, Longmont Legacy members are active volunteers -- giving of their time to help agencies focused on youth and education.
Involvement in Longmont Legacy starts with a contribution of $500 for individuals or $1,000 for families. You may join Longmont Legacy online by selecting Longmont Legacy from the "Fund/Event" drop down box on the secure form, by downloading and mailing or faxing the Legacy application, or by contacting the Longmont Community Foundation at 303-678-6555.
Longmont Legacy is a great way to get experience on how a donor advised fund works. Many Longmont Legacy members have created their own funds as the result of their experience in Longmont Legacy. Some projects for Legacy members include these projects:
Longmont Legacy distributed an award at the Annual Grants Celebration on April 9, 2010 to support the efforts of Hospice of Boulder and Broomfield Counties Camp Erin. Camp Erin is a grieving support group for children affected by the loss of a loved one.
