The Longmont Community Foundation currently offers four scholarship programs and one award for community service. Please scroll down to view program descriptions. Applications are posted in January of each year. If you have questions about any of the scholarship programs below, contact The Longmont Community Foundation at 303-678-6555. American Association of University Women (AAUW) Longmont Branch ScholarshipThis scholarship was established by AAUW to provide scholarships to encourage women to pursue higher education in order to increase their ability to have a positive impact in their field and community, including women returning to school to update their knowledge/skills. At least one student will be selected to receive a $1,000 scholarship. The scholarship will be awarded to a woman who meets all of the following: has completed a minimum of 30 college credit hours at the time of application; is currently working towards an undergraduate degree, graduate degree, or certificate at an accredited two-year or four-year college or university in the United States (full-time or part-time); is pursuing a career that promotes equity for women and girls, education, health, and or positive societal change; has a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0; has either graduated from a St. Vrain Valley School District high school or is a current resident of the St. Vrain Valley School District.
The 2011 recipients of the AAUW Longmont Branch Scholarship are Kaitlin Hellwig attending Colorado State University, Kathryn Nikkel attending the University of Northern Colorado, and Ansley Elwood attending the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs. Madeline Marie Molzahn Sherrod ScholarshipThis scholarship was established by Dale Sherrod and his children in memory of Madeline, his wife and their mother. Student's are selected based on their financial need, academic achievement, church, school, and community involvement, and the strength of their personal statement and letter of recommendation. One student is selected each year to receive this $1,500 scholarship. This is a renewable scholarship for $1,500 for up to three additional years.
